Ziyech move to PSG scrapped (Sports News) – The loan deal of Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech to Paris Saint-Germain fell through, as a series of administrative errors by the London club botched talks between them and the French club. Let’s look more into this news development.

Ziyech Move to PSG Scrapped – What Went Wrong

Media reports say Chelsea have missed four telephone calls before filing the unsigned documents to PSG before the passing of the deadline. This angered the French side, that it made them furious the deal to acquire the 29-year old Ziyech would not go through.

By this time, the Morocco international, who helped his country claim a 4th place finish in the 2022 World Cup, had travelled to Paris to undergo a medical. Following the misunderstanding, it looks as though he has to stay at Stamford Bridge until at least the next transfer window.

The failure of talks also denied the opportunity for Ziyech to team up with compatriot Achraf Hakimi in the French Ligue 1. PSG are also competing in the current UEFA Champions League knockout rounds.

Ziyech Move to PSG Scrapped – Galtier’s Statement

PSG manager Christophe Galtier expressed his dismay about the blunder, especially as they saw Ziyech as a replacement for Wolverhampton-bound Pablo Sarabia. Nevertheless, the Frenchman said he was “satisfied” with his squad.

“From the moment we released Pablo Sarabia to join England, we targeted players who could play on the right side,” said Galtier in a press conference following Paris’ win over Montpelier. “For various reasons, which I won’t go into, we couldn’t make the player we had targeted.”

“I have a quality workforce, the young people will have their say,” continued the 56-year old head coach. “Obviously in a very busy schedule you have to be careful with injuries and fatigue, but there you go, I’m satisfied with the squad I have.”

Ziyech Move to PSG Scrapped – Potter Confident He is “Commited”

Amid the hoopla, Chelsea manager Graham Potter has stated that Hakim Ziyech is fully committed to their club.

“He is a professional player,” the 47-year-old Potter told the media ahead of their game against Fulham. “He understands the situation. He is committed to us. He is available for the squad against Fulham and he will be an important player for the rest of the season.”
