Wales v England Prediction – Preview

Wales

Wales are currently at the bottom of Group B with a single point. After holding the USA to a 1-1 draw, they were unable to contain Iran, bowing to them 0-2 at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium. Kieffer Moore had the best chance for The Dragons when his early effort was denied by Majid Hosseini. Since then, the Iranians dominated, and keeper Wayne Hennessey was sent off after bundling into Mehdi Taremi.Team Melli took advantage of the 10-men Welsh squad in stoppage, with Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian scoring goals in quick succession. With the path to the knockout stage getting harder, manager Rob Page must have his men channel a deep passion as they take on their British rivals next.

England

England have maintained their hold atop Group B, but have had mixed fortunes over their first two games. After thrashing Iran 6-2 in the opener, the guns were silenced as they battled to a 0-0 stalemate against the USA. The Stars and Stripes stopped any momentum that The Three Lions had heading into this match, as they dominated the first half despite not scoring. However, Gareth Southgate‘s hards were able to contain the Americans in the second half, but the firepower too was lacking. Being unable to beat the USA yet again in the competition, they now turn their attention to their fellow home country, who also have a score to settle.

Wales v England Prediction – Final Thoughts

Expect the air of rivalry to be present in Qatar for this all-British matchup. But don’t expect much from Wales, who, with even the accomplished Gareth Bale, will have their hands full with a talented England squad. The Three Lions may have been silenced by the Americans, but they will take it all out against their UK compatriots, and end up with an emphatic win. So, with that, let’s take a look at our prediction.
