With the goalless draw, the stats for each side have changed once again, as Vietnam and Indonesia now both have a goal scoring rate of 2.4% in the competition. However, the Golden Star Warriors maintain their clean standing, while the Garudas have conceded and average of 0.6% in the competition. Let’s take a closer look at the two teams.

Vietnam v Indonesia Match Prediction – Preview

Vietnam

Vietnam dominated with possession at the start of the first leg, as Nguyen Quang Hai was unable to convert Dong Hung Dung‘s pass to break the deadlock. The Golden Star Warriors then cleared an oncoming attack by Dendy Sulistyawan. Keeper Dang Van Lam also made crucial saves to prevent the Vietnamese’s record from being tarnished. In the second half Nguyen Tuan Anh successfully tackeld an attempt by Dendy. Viet Manager Park Hang-seo, who could be handling his last AFF Championship, encouraged his boys in a statement that he didn’t want the second leg of the semi-final to be the last. Could the Warriors complete the task at home?

Indonesia

Indonesia succesfully defended their home ground from a Vietnam goal, but are still in search of an important goal for themselves. The Merah Putih’s wide attackers Marselino and Sayuri challenged the Golden Star Warriors defence but fell short of a game-changing goal. Marselino set up Dendy through on goal but was tackled even before he got to Dang. Sayuri’s cross was also saved by Dang, and another shot of his sailed past the goal. Marselino had a one-on-one with Dang, with his shot going directly into the keeper’s arms. He also saved another header from Sayuri from Pratama Arhan. The Viets would frustrate the Garudas more in the second half, as Dendy was tackled by substitute Nguyen Tuan Anh and Dang denied Sayuri again. Shin Tae-yong‘s side now have the tall task of needing to score against a hostile Hanoi crowd. Could they manage and go to their second consecutive AFF final?

Vietnam v Indonesia Match Prediction – Final Thoughts

Indonesia have brought the attack to Vietnam at home in Jakarta, but were unlucky to get a goal past them. And even with their immense fighting spirit, we don’t see them netting at the My Dinh. The hometown Golden Star Warriors look to get the firepower missing in the first leg, scoring just enough to book a seat in the final. Let’s take a look at our prediction.
