Thailand wins its 7th AFF Cup (Sports News) – After a tense filled two-legged final, Thailand successfully defended their crown in the Mitsubishi Electric Cup. They defeated two-time champions Vietnam 3-2 on aggregate, as they were crowned champions of Southeast Asia for a record seventh time, clear of nearest rival Singapore’s four titles. This, after captain Theerathorn Bunmathan scored the second leg’s lone goal on 24 minutes following an aggressive drive.

The final 2nd leg also happened to be the last match of Park Hang-seo as head coach of Vietnam. During his tenure as coach, the Korean has collected various honours including leading Vietnam to the AFF Championship title in 2018, two gold medals in the SEA Games, and bringing the Golden Star Warriors to the third round of the 2012 World Cup Qualifiers. The 65-year old coach also helped Vietnam achieve their highest ranking as top 100 of FIFA.
