Stoke v Blackburn Prediction – Preview

Stoke City F.C.

Stoke City are currently seated 16th in the Championship table. In their last match, they bounced back from two consecutive losses to thrash Sunderland 5-1 at the Stadium of Light. Josh Laurent opened the scoring for the Potters just before halftime. Tyrese Campbell then added to a lead with a four-minute double. Alex Pritchard pulled back one for the Black Cats, but Dwight Gayle scored a brace to put the game out of reach for the hosts. Manager Alex Neil, who incidentally coached Sunderland previously, was “really, really pleased” with the result. Can they do the same against Rovers this weekend?

Blackburn Rovers F.C.

Blackburn Rovers are currently seated 4th in the table. Soon after knocking out Leicester City 2-1 from the FA Cup, they beat Sheffield United 1-0 in a “tune up match” prior to next week’s FA Cup quarter-final tie. Harry Pickering netted on just 5 minutes to provide the lone goal for the match, giving the Blades a taste of what to expect in the quarter-final. Manager Jon Dahl Tomasson said that he was extremely pleased with the win, and it was “deserved”. They however face a tough game ahead with Bradley Dack, Daniel Ayala and Thomas Kaminski incurring injuries. Could they overcome these to pick up another three points towards a promotion play-off?

Stoke City v Blackburn Prediction – Final Thoughts

Despite being lower in the table, Stoke City will benefit from home support and a healthier lineup. Blackburn’s FA Cup tie will be lingering in the minds of Tomasson and company, wondering if they would have a leaner lineup for the tie. We do believe that Rovers’ superiority in depth will carry them through to at least a tie with the Potters in this matchup. Let’s take a look at our prediction.
