Sterling goes to Chelsea from City (Sports News) – Shortly after Gabriel Jesus left regining Premier League champions Manchester City to go to Arsenal, teammate Raheem Sterling also makes a move this summer to another London club, Chelsea F.C.

Sterling Goes to Chelsea – Fee Details

Sterling  had just entered his final year of contract with Man City, with whom he will be parting in good terms. In acquiring the forward, Chelsea beat out bids from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool (his former club prior to moving to Manchester). The terms for his transfer have already been fully agreed upon, following a verbal agreement next week.

As part of the deal, Man City will be receiving a guaranteed £45 million, plus add-ons similar to the Jesus deal. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who had Sterling on his shortlist of attacking targets, has also held direct talks with the 27-year-old.

Sterling Goes to Chelsea – Helping to Refresh Blues’ Attack

Sterling’s move to Stamford Bridge would bring teeth to Chelsea, who are slowly retooling after longtime owner Roman Abramovich sold the club. The Jamaican-born, England international has been involved in a combined 165 goals in the EPL in 320 appearances for Liverpool and Man City.

The 27-year old has also been a great asset to City boss Pep Guardiola: Sterling played for the Catalan manager more times (292) than anyone else. Only Lionel Messi (211) and Sergio Aguero (124) have netted more than Sterling (120), and the forward is also third in assists (66) behind Kevin De Bruyne and Messi (80). However, his inconsistency has failed to make him a revered figure at the Etihad Stadium; he hopes to rectify all that with his latest move to a new club.

Sterling Goes to Chelsea – Is Ronaldo Next?

Besides the acquisition of Sterling, Chelsea have been reported to be preparing a £14 million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar has expressed his dissatisfaction with current club Manchester United, and has asked to leave in order to play in a UEFA Champions League-contending club. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has also not reported for practice at Man Utd last weekend, citing family reasons.

Chelsea’s bid is £6 million less than the £19.7 million United gave Juventus to acquire Ronaldo. The veteran forward still has a year left with the Red Devils, but is expected to forego it, as he was unhappy with the club’s activity under new boss Erik Ten Hag, apart from his desire to play UCL football. Could the Blues be successful in pairing him with Sterling in their attack line? We shall soon find out?
