Instead, the Saudi Blue Wave refused to go quietly, as they capitalised with Luciano Vietto scoring a double on either side of Vinicius’ second goal. Marega then missed out on an opportunity to narrow the lead, as Los Blancos saw out the match, which now holds the record for the most combined goals ina World Cup Final.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was full of praise for his side. He also declared that the Club World Cup could be a boost for the rest of the season. Apart from trying to retain the La Liga title, Los Blancos are also still in the running for the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League titles.
“There was a great atmosphere with lots of our fans here for both the matches,” said the 63-year-old Italian. We have had a great time here and we return home with the trophy. I think we’re getting better. There were some mistakes at the back that we could have avoided, but we were really good in attack. We’re now getting players back from injuries and I think this title can also be a boost for the rest of the season. We’re very confident for the rest of the season. I think we’ll fight to the end in every tournament.”
