Real Madrid v Liverpool UCL Prediction – Preview

Real Madrid C.F.

Real Madrid once again showed their patience in knockout games as they overcame an early two-goal deficit to win 5-2 at Anfield. Vini Jr. first half brace erased Liverpool’s early lead, while Eder Militao fired Los Blancos ahead two minutes after the restart. Karim Benzema then scored a double of his own for a commanding aggregate lead heading to Madrid. The Carlo Ancelotti-led side would however not win again for three games, which includes a 0-1 loss to rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey. This changed after they routed Espanyol 3-1 in La Liga, with Vini, Militao and Marco Asensio all netting. However, with key players such  as Benzema and David Alaba getting injured, will they still be able to complete the job against the Reds at the Bernabeu?

Liverpool F.C.

Liverpool had a disappointing UCL round of 16 first leg at home after they surrendered the the aggregate lead to Real Madrid. Things looked promising as Darwin Nuñez opened the scoring just four minutes in, and Mohamed Salah doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a gift from Thibaut Courtois. However, Los Blancos were unstoppable, as they rained five consecutive goals over the hosts, as they again frustrated them after beating them 1-0 in last season’s final. The Jurgen Klopp-side would then have huge games in the Premier League, seeing off Wolves 2-0 and dealing rivals Manchester United their biggest league loss with a 7-0 result. However, they would follow it up with a disappointing 0-1 loss to relegation side Bournemouth. As they hope for a huge game to overturn Madrid’s commanding lead, will the Reds have what it takes?

Real Madrid v Liverpool UCL Prediction – Final Thoughts

Real Madrid will have their hands full with a Liverpool side that have stepped up their attack since the first leg. The world got a glimpse of this when the Merseysiders battered Man Utd. However, Los Blancos are still the more complete team, injuries notwithstanding. The English visitors will have a tough time trying to net three unanswered goals, with their hosts being proficient in attack. Thus, we see Real Madrid punching their ticket to the quarter-finals. Let’s take a look at our predictions.
