While Man City secured the premiership with three games left to play, they have had mixed results in their remaining matches, due to some liberties with the lineups. Meanwhile, Man Utd fought to the end to secure their 3rd place finish, sweeping their last four outings.

Man City v Man Utd FA Cup Prediction – Preview

Manchester City F.C.

Manchester City are looking to win their 7th ever FA Cup and first one since 2019. They secured their ticket to Wembley by defeating then-Championship side Sheffield United, 3-0 in the semi-final. Riyad Mahrez was the man of the hour for the Cityzens, as he scored all goals for a career-defining hat-trick. The Pep Guardiola-led side had just completed a historic three-peat in the Prem, leapfrogging 200-day leaders Arsenal to lift the trophy. Their last league outing for the season, which saw them using a different lineup,  saw them bow 0-1 to Brentford. Most likely a tactical move to preserve Man City’s best weapons for the FA Cup, we shall see now if their effort will be worth it when they face their arch-rivals for the trophy.

Manchester United F.C.

Manchester United are looking to lift the FA Cup for the 12th time, and for the first time since 2016. They barely squeaked into the final as they defeated Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties (7-6) after a goal-less 120 minutes. With both sides sweeping the first six sets of pens, a miss by Solly March, followed by a conversion by Victor Lindelof sent the Red Devils back to Wembley. The Erik ten Hag-led squad made a late push in the season to finish at 3rd in the table and a Champions League return. On the last day of the EPL, they narrowly edged out Fulham, 2-1, behind Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes’ goals. Can they now make it a domestic double, and disrupt their hated neighbours’ dreams of a treble?

Man City v Man Utd FA Cup Prediction – Final Thoughts

In spite of their last meeting, which saw Man Utd triumph, the blue side of the city remain the favourites in the competition. We can expect each team to score on neutral ground, but the Erling Haaland-led Man City will be more relentless in their attack, and put up a midfield and defence that is just as strong. The Cityzens should cruise on to lift the trophy and get one more step close to the European treble. With that, here are our predictions for this match.
