Man City v Chelsea Prediction – Preview

Manchester City F.C.

Manchester City are currently four points clear of Arsenal at the table, needing at least two points to clinch the title. Their last league game saw them decimate relegation side Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park. Ilkay Gundogan was the star of the match, as he scored one goal in each period, while setting up talisman Erling Haaland for a first half goal. The Pep Guardiola-led side followed up this performance with another dominant showing at the Etihad, this time against UEFA Champions League semi-final opponents Real Madrid (4-0). Bernardo Silva had a first-half brace, while Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez added two more in the second period to knock out the 14-time European champions 5-1 on aggregate. With a league threepeat and a rare treble in their sights, can the Cityzens finish off Chelsea to seal their place in history?

Chelsea F.C.

Chelsea hold on to the middle of the table after a tumultous season, and have escaped relegation in the first full season in the post-Roman Abramovich era. They, however, failed to get a second consecutive win as Nottingham Forest held them to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. Taiwo Awoniyi opened the scoring for Forest at just 13 minutes, and it took till the second half for Raheem Sterling to respond with a 7-minute brace. However, shortly after, Awoniyi struck again to deny the Blues of an outright win. With interim manager Frank Lampard down to his last three games, he can make a statement by denying City a crack at the title this weekend. But with the numerous injuries of the squad, is a miracle possible?

Man City v Chelsea Prediction – Final Thoughts

With the league three-peat and a treble well within their sights, Man City should easily see off a crippled Chelsea side. The main question will be who will Guardiola play given his many healthy options and with the FA Cup and UCL finals soon to come. Nevertheless, we see a win by a comfortable margin against the Londoners and lift the trophy for an unprecdented third season. Let’s take a look at our predictions.
