Malaysia v Singapore Match Prediction – Preview

Malaysia

Malaysia are currently third in Group B with 6 points. Their winning streak in the competition was snapped by Vietnam, who defeated them 0-3 after both teams were reduced to 10 men. Nguyen Tien Linh powered the Golden Star Warriors ahead on 28 minutes, and while the Harimau Malaya got a break after Nguyen Van Toan got a red card 4 minutes later, they still trailed 0-1 at the break. The sides were on terms strengthwise again when Azam Azmi  was sent off, and the Vietnamese got two more past keeper Syihan Hazmi with Que Ngoc Hai and Nguyen Hoang Duc scoring. Manager Kim Pan-gon conceded that Vietnam deserved to win, with his side all trying their best. He made it a point to review it before the Singapore clash, which will be another heated encounter for his team.

Singapore

Singapore are currently second in Group with 7 points, just one clear of Malaysia. They too last faced Vietnam, but were able to hold them to 0-0 draw this time at home. In the first half, the Golden Star Warriors held the most possession, but were unable to go in front despite Singapore not getting into attacking position. Ilhan Fandi had an attempt after a Christopher Van Huizen display. There was concern when Ilhan was injured before the half, with his sub Shawal Anuar reinvigorating the attack. But while the Viets were unable to penetrate the Singaporean defence, none of them could score and they had to share the points. Manager Takayuki Nishigaya nevertheless praised the Lions as well as the home team for the match. For the Malaysians, he expects them to be aggressive but his Lions would match their ferocity.

Malaysia v Singapore Match Prediction – Final Thoughts

Being too familiar with each other and with a semi-final slot at stake, this match could go either way. However, apart from a slight home advantage, Malaysia could also attack slightly better than Singapore with their higher goalscoring rate. The Lions will be stubborn on defence, but Harimau Malaya have enough to sneak in a win, albeit in a very close manner.  With that, let’s take a look at our prediction.
